This article describes the minimum hardware and software requirements to run TPx’s Call Center Client. TPx strongly recommends that computer systems used to run the Call Center Client have capabilities exceeding these.

Operating System

Call Center is deployed on a Microsoft Windows platform, Mac OS X platform, and/or Citrix Presentation Server platform.

Hardware Requirements

Microsoft Windows or Mac OS X Platform

  • 1.4 GHz or higher Intel Core 2 Duo processor or compatible CPU
  • 2 GB of RAM recommended minimum; more memory generally improves performance
  • 60 MB available hard disk space
  • Video graphics card with minimum of 8 MB of RAM
  • Super VGA monitor (15 inches or larger)
  • 1024 x 768 minimum screen resolution
  • HTTP(s) connectivity to the TPx Services Platform

Citrix Presentation Server

  • 2.0 GHz or higher Pentium 4 or compatible CPU
  • Minimum 2 GB of RAM
  • 60 MB free disk space per application installation
  • HTTP(s) connectivity to the TPx Services Platform

Citrix ICA Client Workstation

  • 1.2 GHz or higher Pentium 3 or compatible CPU
  • 128 MB of RAM
  • Video graphics card with 8 MB of RAM minimum
  • 1024 x 768 minimum screen resolution
  • Network connection of minimum 56 KBps speed

Software Requirements

The software requirements include:

  • Windows, Mac OS X, or Citrix operating system
  • Sun Microsystems Java, Runtime edition
  • Outlook – Required for the Outlook contact directory
  • Excel (optional)
  • Web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari (note that some browser versions have restrictions and limitations)

Citrix Server Impacts

  • The application can be published on a Citrix server via the Management Console for MetaFrame.
  • Sun Microsystems Java Runtime edition is required.

Citrix Workstation Impacts

  • The Java Virtual Machine is not required on the workstation in this deployment.

For Flash Player Runtime Citrix Permissions configure the following:

  • Using regedit, find the following key: HKCR\CLSID\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000}.

    NOTE: On 64-bit Windows, this key is located under HKCR\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000}.

  • Remove any permissions for the Everyone Click the Advanced button and check the box to propagate the permissions to all child objects.
  • Add the Everyone group and give it “Read” permissions on the key. Click Advanced and propagate the permissions to all child objects.
  • Repeat the removal of any permissions on the subsequent key with the following: HKCR\CLSID\{D27CDB70-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000}.

Required Web Browser Settings

Internet Explorer: Enable Javascript to view reports

  1. On the Internet Explorer Menu bar, select the Tools menu and then click Internet Options.
  2. Click the Security tab, then click the Custom level…
  3. In the Scripting category, click the Enable button for the Active Scripting
  4. In the Scripting category, click the Enable button for the Allow status bar updates via script
  5. Click the Yes button when prompted with a message box asking, Are you sure you want to change the settings for this zone?
  6. Click OK, then close and restart Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer: Settings for Full Screen Mode

NOTE: If Internet Explorer is not configured as shown here, the Full Screen link has no effect when clicked and no error message is displayed to the user.

  1. On the Internet Explorer Menu bar, select the Tools menu and then click Internet Options.
  2. Click the Security tab, then click the Custom level…
  3. In the Security Settings – Internet Zone dialog box, scroll down to Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting in the ActiveX controls and plug-ins section. Select Enable or Prompt.
  4. Click OK, then close and restart Internet Explorer.

Firefox: Settings for Quick Link Navigation

NOTE: If Firefox is not configured as shown here, Call Center does not change focus from the Dashboard to the main application window when the user clicks on a quick link.

  1. On the Firefox Menu bar, select the Tools menu, and then click Options.
  2. In the Options dialog box, click the Content
  3. Click the Advanced button to the right of the to Enable JavaScript check box.
  4. In the Advanced JavaScript Settings dialog box, check Raise or lower windows.
  5. Click OK, then close and restart Firefox.

Third-Party IM&P Server Requirements

For users with the Third-Party IM&P service assigned, Call Center connects to an IM&P server provided by a third-party service provider.

The correct functioning of the Instant Messaging and Presence (IM&P) functionality in the Call Center client depends on certain server-side capabilities.  The minimum requirements are as follows:

  • Extensive Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP)-based IM&P server
  • Bidirectional-streams Over Synchronous HTTP (BOSH) connection manager with cross-domain support through Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS)
  • Support for extended presence states of DND and Away
  • Service discovery
  • Multi-user chat support
